The first step in your journey to your new project is to call Custom Construction for your no obligation, free estimate.
If and when you choose Custom Construction for your home renovation needs your next step is to dig up your original survey drawing, and pick up a building permit from your local town building department. We then set up a meeting and fill the forms out together as we both have to sign areas of the application. The next step is to drop off all the necessary paperwork for review from the zoning, and building department which takes about 5 to 20 business days. Once the permit is issued, we can then schedule your project.
Who will be building our project?
Custom Construction will be there from start to finish making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions, changes to the original design you can speak to us any time between 8 am to 6 pm daily.
Who do we pay and what is the schedule of payments?
The payment schedule will be made available to you, the client, in your contract. The final payment is due upon completion and a successful final inspection from your local building department. It’s a state law that contractors are not to be paid in full until a successful final inspection.
How many inspections are there, and who calls for inspections?
How many final inspections depends upon the complexity and size of your project. Inspections are to insure safety, reliabilty and quality. We call and schedule all inspections for you and meet with the inspector with the plans on site.
How long does it take to finish our new project?
Custom Construction always works as efficiently as possible. Factors that determine the overall project time include size and complexity of project, weather and availability of materials.
Who removes the debris?
We keep your yard virtually free of debris. We also organize and tidy up after each work day. Custom Construction is licensed by the Department of Enviromental Protection and the State of New Jersey to haul and dispose of waste materials.
Is garbage removal paid by us?
No, unless stated in the contract. All debris removal is paid for by Custom Construction.
The written contract will have all important information on it ranging from types and sizes of materials to the payment arrangements.
Where do you get your supplies?
We get our materials from locally owned and operated businesses that offer quality products.
Are you a licensed contractor/renovator?
Yes, Custom Construction is a fully licensed contractor/renovator in NJ. We are also LEAD certified. As a contractor/renovator our license number will be supplied for your records.
Are you insured?
Yes, we have liability insurance to protect your home for up to $1,000,000 and worker’s compensation on all employees.
Do you have references?
References available upon request.
